Starting from Piazza della Signoria, we’ll be stopping at the church of Orsanmichele and then the “casa a mensola” (cantileverhouse) on Via Santa Elisabetta, which is mentioned in the Decameron and is a rare example of its kind. You’ll love the 400-year-old houses and alleyways, the Castagna and Pagliazza towers and the tower-houses on Via del Corso. The walk will end in Piazza Duomo, where Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Loggia del Bigallo stand as further examples of the splendor of Florence from an age when few cities in the West rivalled it in importance.
